Internally, OHS utilizes our own business and clinical intelligence solution, Precision.BI, to manage various components of our business. As many of our Precision.BI clients already know, the solution is dynamic and allows for total performance management of operations. And we agree. It has changed the way we manage our billing services business.

Ted Newman, director of client relations, is responsible for client satisfaction and management of our outsourced full-service billing clients in the Northeast. Newman works with Precision.BI on a daily basis to evaluate and understand not only our own contractual performance, but also to identify areas of improvement in operations.

“The main objective for implementing Precision.BI into our service suites is to ensure that we have an excellent relationship with our customers,” said Newman. “Visiting a client on-site only goes so far. Integrating the Precision.BI solution took our service to a whole new level for our clients. In the past, we provided our clients with standard monthly reports. It was time consuming and cost prohibitive to create the custom reports some clients would ask for. Now, we use Precision.BI to extract our data and then we provide the appropriate reports from there. We are able to easily export them into Excel for final delivery to our clients.”

“By providing our customers analyses such as a Service Location Analysis, we have been able to help practices identify where they are actually losing money by operating satellite locations as part of their practice,” said Newman, “and re-adusting where the practice has improved their bottom line.”

In addition to providing our full-service billing clients performance analysis in an exported Excel format, we are also beginning to roll out Web-based dashboards and allowing clients to have access to their own data as well as drill through, slice and dice the data on their own via the Web.

Our Mid-Atlantic state’s director, Ladan Rykiel, constantly looks at data on a much higher level. For example, she evaluates our services for total days in AR by client. If she notices someone over 60 days, she immediately performs a drill through, exports the report and sends it to the manager responsible for the client to take care of. This is done in a matter of seconds - making it quick and easy for OHS to remain proactive for our client’s sake.

Another area that she looks at is denial reports for all clients. In some cases a specific payer will have high denial rates horizontally across most customers. This is an indicator of a problem with the payer and allows operations to manage the scenario holistically instead of client by client.

“There is no such thing as a standard end of month report,” states Rykiel. “The healthcare industry is so dynamic and so are our customers. We like to address each customer on an individual basis. Precision.BI is a way for us to tie our clients into our services allowing us to completely manage our business.”

Tony Marasco, director of client services, internal support and infrastructure, describes how Precision.BI has shined in tracking employee work load.

“In most time-tracking systems, included reporting is limited,” explained Marasco. “Since there are specific reporting needs for client service billing, Precision.BI was implemented to provide detailed time management reports to our clients. Managers may analyze productivity data and projected monthly billing data for planning purposes. Paid time off is tracked, reported and reconciled each pay period. Without Precision.BI, reporting would need to be customized by the time-tracking vendor at a substantial cost and would not be easily or effectively produced.”
