PBI Training Schedule

The PBI Training Department is once again offering some group web training sessions to assist our users with various aspects of our software. Some introductory sessions may assist brand new users while some of the advanced topics may be of interest to more experienced users. In addition, we will begin offering some free sessions to help all users take advantage of our new product features.

Please keep in mind that both custom and on-site training are still available and may be more beneficial in certain circumstances.

The purpose of this two-part course is to assist the user in understanding reasons and methods for joining related and unrelated data and using multiple queries to obtain a single result.

Metalayer I

The attendee will learn the concepts of the PBI Metalayer, Treeview, and creating T-SQL expressions to be used within PBI objects.

This course highlights industry standard best practices of object design and presentation considerations with building PBI content.

Web Designer - Charts

Prerequisite - review of CBT's.  The participants will learn intermediate-level chart design with a focus on chart options, trending, and basic filtering and drill-through functions.

New Precision.BI users will be exposed to basic use of the system.  Navigation of the client server application, opening and saving objects, opening and saving searches are topics for this course.

The attendee will learn the concepts to add additional fields to the PBI download and Metalayer.

Web Designer - KPI

Prerequisite - review of CBT's.  The participants will learn KPI grid and gauge design, defined targets, KPI's as simple tables, and drill through.

Advanced Searching

The attendee will learn concepts and techniques to retrieve data using complex search techniques.  Nested, stacked, and SQL Expressions will be discussed.

V4 PAC Design Basics

The users will learn basic V4 Precision Access Center design techniques.

Query Optimization 1 (part a & b)

In this two-part course, the attendee will learn the object SQL basics in PBI, object performance suggestions, Process Management, and use of PXPTrace and SQL Trace, as well as how to leverage existing SQL Server tools (related to PBI) to assess, plan, and modify index strategies to optimize object performance.

Advanced Expressions

This course examines medium to advanced level expressions available in PrecisionBI.  Expressions included will be advanced programmed expressions, correlated subqueries, and UDF's.

Query Optimization II

Advanced query optimization techniques will be analyzed, such as manual index creation, heuristic changes to the Data Tuning Optimization Wizard, statistics, and optimization job scheduling
