The first Pilot Program release is ready! This has been a long time coming, but the end result is definitely worth the wait. Idaho is the most significant update since the product's inception and we believe that it will be the start of a new revolution in the way data is analyzed.
Our last Idaho Update discussed the new Search Tree. That enhancement will be evident on the very first use of Idaho and is one of the core user experience enhancements for this release. Yet another enhancement that will be less evident, but equally important for implementation management, is the concept of a PBI Central Database.
PBI Central
Currently, if your organization has multiple databases across one or more servers, your administrators would have to log into each database separately in order to manage users, objects, metadata, security etc. Now, all management of your PBI implementations can be done in a centralized location. This is an especially significant enhancement for clients that utilize Precision.BI to analyze data across their enterprise (e.g., Practice Management, Electronic Medical Record, Financial/GL, HR, Time Tracking, etc.).
In addition, all application related tables will now be in a database separate from your analytical tables. That way, if you ever need to backup, restore, upgrade etc. data pertaining to just one set of tables, you will not have to affect the other. This will significantly help with database management.
As you can see, we are not only enhancing the user experience, we are also making it easier to manage your implementation.
Next issue, we will discuss Analysis and Charts.
